Known for the largest tulip garden in Asia in the Zabarwan range, Srinagar is all set to host a 6-day Tulip Festival next month. Overlooking the Dal lake, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is spread across 30 hectares and boasts of a full bloom during the spring season.

The festival, which will begin on April 3, aims to celebrate the arrival of spring along with promoting tourism in the valley. Visitors can look forward to a series of activities including cultural shows and musical evenings.

The festival will also showcase the culture, traditions, cuisines and crafts of the valley by means of stalls that will be displayed.

Apart from that, a live exhibit of handicrafts and handloom products will also be a part of the festival.

Keeping the festival in mind, sound and lighting systems near the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre and the Hari Parbat Fort are also being taken care of. Additionally, pan-India promotional activities are taking place to lure travellers.

Apart from this, the valley might also witness a houseboat festival, owing to their iconic value for travellers.

According to media reports, summers might see other major events in the valley.

In order to follow all necessary precautions for COVID-19, volunteers have been deployed to ensure smooth movement and adherence to standard operating procedures.
