London-based ship auctioneer CW Kellock & Co is listing the Holiday, one of Carnival Cruise Line&rsquos earliest vessels, next month.
The former Carnival vessel, known for its signature winged funnel (also known as the 'whale tail'), has also sailed for Cruise & Maritime Voyages under the name Magellan. Now, the Holiday/Magellan is left without a crew as the British company shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The vessel is currently the second oldest existing Carnival ship that originally set sail in 1985. It weighs 46,052 tons and can efficiently cater up to 1,860 passengers while carrying around 670 crew members on board. Built with 12 decks, the boat is 727 and 733 feet long.
According to the auctioneer, a list of other vessels will be up for auction in October along with the Holiday, including the Vasco Da Gama, the Columbus, the Astor, and the Marco Polo. All of these vessels except for Marco Polo are currently docked in Port Tilbury in Essex, England.
Anyone who wishes to make a bid for this marvel of a vessel can set up a first-hand inspection with CW Kellock & Co. There is no pre-auction price estimate for the ship, and all offers must be made by October 19, 2020. Ship experts estimate the value to be in several million dollars.
