In a welcome move for travellers, the Railway Board has approved the operation of a special train connecting Bengaluru to Rishikesh — a first in terms of direct rail connectivity between Karnataka and Uttarakhand. The South Western Railway (SWR) announced that the special service aims to meet increased passenger demand during summer.

About The Journey

Train number 06597 Yeshwantpur–Rishikesh Express Special will depart from Yeshwantpur at 7:00 am on June 19, 26 and July 3, reaching Rishikesh at 10:20 am the following Saturday. The return journey, train number 06598 Rishikesh–Yeshwantpur Express Special, will leave Rishikesh at 5:55 pm on June 21, 28 and July 5, arriving in Yeshwantpur at 7:45 pm on Monday, as per reports.

Bengaluru To Rishikesh

The new direct train route between Bengaluru and Rishikesh invites one to experience two vastly different but equally vibrant parts of India.

Bengaluru, often dubbed the "Silicon Valley of India," is known for its cutting-edge tech scene, youthful energy, and pleasant weather. But beyond the start-ups and skyscrapers, the city offers green parks like Cubbon Park and Lalbagh Botanical Garden, a rich café culture, and much more. For those exploring nearby, weekend getaways to Nandi Hills, Chikmagalur, or Coorg are popular options.

Located in the foothills of the Himalayas along the Ganga, Rishikesh offers a soul-stirring contrast. Popular globally as the Yoga Capital of the World, it's a haven for spiritual seekers, adventure lovers, and nature enthusiasts alike. The town’s peaceful ghats, ashrams, and temples are complemented by thrilling activities like white-water rafting, bungee jumping, and trekking in the Garhwal Himalayas.
