Due to the ongoing military conflict between India and Pakistan, Indian Railways has announced the operation of special trains to assist stranded passengers from the border cities of Jammu, Udhampur, and Pathankot. This announcement was made on Friday, May 9, and includes the deployment of a Vande Bharat train.
According to reports, multiple special trains will run from Jammu and Udhampur to Delhi. One of the special trains departed from Jammu for Delhi at 10:45 AM on Friday, May 9, and made a scheduled stop in Pathankot. Another special train also departed from Jammu at 7 PM on May 9 for Delhi.
The fourth special train departed on May 10 at 11:05 AM from Udhampur, travelling via Jammu, Kathua, and Pathankot Cantt to Delhi.
In addition, a mainly unreserved train left Jammu for Guwahati, passing through Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, at 11:55 PM. Furthermore, a special Vande Bharat train was arranged to depart from Udhampur at 12:45 PM, which will also travel via Jammu and Pathankot, enhancing connectivity between the northern districts and the national capital.
Reports indicate that around 300 individuals associated with Indian Premier League (IPL) teams, including cricketers and support staff, utilised the special Vande Bharat train to travel to Delhi.
Meanwhile in the wake of strikes by Pakistan on the night of May 8, the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation temporarily shut down 32 airports across north, west and central India.
