India’s busiest gateway has taken a major step to make air travel easier and more comfortable for families. Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), led by GMR Aero, has launched a comprehensive family travel initiative named Family@DEL. The programme became operational on February 5, 2026, and is now in effect across Terminals 1, 2, and 3 at Indira Gandhi International Airport for domestic departures, offering a range of tailored services and priority facilities for families travelling with children, elderly members or passengers with reduced mobility.

What Family@DEL Offers At IGI

The new initiative builds a dedicated travel channel for families starting right from arrival at the airport. Families can enter through special entry gates that are designed to reduce congestion and wait times. Once inside, passengers travelling with infants, toddlers, seniors or anyone needing additional assistance can check in at exclusive family check-in counters that are separate from regular queues.

After check-in, the airport has opened priority security lanes exclusively for family travellers so that long security queues become a stress-free experience. Buggy assistance is available on request to help parents or elderly passengers move from check-in zones through the terminals, all the way to their boarding gates without struggling with luggage or tired feet.

Kid-Friendly Spaces And Support Services

Family@DEL goes beyond checkpoints to create a comfortable airport experience. Designated seating areas with child-friendly meal options have been set up in food courts across all three terminals so parents can relax and refuel with their little ones before departure. Complimentary baby strollers are available for use along with private baby care rooms equipped for feeding and changing. Family Assistance Buddies, specially trained airport staff, are positioned throughout the terminals to assist families with navigation and support at each stage of the journey.

Passengers with mobility challenges or elderly flyers will find passenger-friendly restrooms and accessible facilities under this initiative, ensuring that every family member has a smoother airport experience.

DIAL’s CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said the Family@DEL move reflects the airport’s commitment to a caring, inclusive travel environment, recognising the unique needs of family travellers and aiming to reduce stress from the departure forecourt all the way to the aircraft door. This programme underscores a broader push to enhance quality and comfort at one of India’s most important aviation hubs.
