City Express By Marriott Opens Its First India Hotel In Udaipur

Marriott International has introduced City Express by Marriott to India with a 56-room hotel on the Udaipur–Nathdwara Highway. The opening expands the company's midscale accommodation portfolio and marks the arrival of its latest brand in South Asia.

For travellers exploring Rajasthan, a stay in Udaipur often involves balancing heritage sightseeing, visits to nearby pilgrimage destinations, and time spent discovering the region's cultural attractions. City Express by Marriott Udaipur Nathdwara Highway enters this travel landscape with a practical proposition, combining modern amenities, dining facilities, and convenient road connectivity for business and leisure travellers.

The hotel is the first City Express by Marriott property in India and marks the introduction of Marriott Bonvoy's 22nd brand in the country. The global hospitality group operates a portfolio of more than 30 hotel brands, spanning different accommodation categories and traveller preferences.

A New Midscale Offering

City Express by Marriott is positioned around quality, efficiency, simplicity, and value. Its approach centres on providing essential comforts and functional facilities without making the stay experience unnecessarily complicated. The brand is intended for travellers who prioritise convenience and reliable amenities, whether they are visiting a destination for work, leisure, or a combination of the two.

The opening also adds to Marriott International's presence in India's midscale accommodation segment. As the company continues to expand its range of offerings, the new property introduces another option for guests seeking the familiarity of an international hotel brand alongside practical facilities for shorter stays and regional travel.

Located along National Highway 58, the hotel occupies a position that connects Udaipur with Nathdwara and other destinations in Rajasthan. Nathdwara is an important pilgrimage centre, drawing devotees to the Shrinathji Temple, while Udaipur attracts visitors with its palaces, lakes, historic neighbourhoods, and cultural heritage. The highway location allows guests to plan visits to both destinations during their stay.

Rooms And Facilities

The 56 guestrooms are designed to prioritise functionality and everyday comfort. Each room comes with complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, a dedicated workspace, an LED television, a mini refrigerator, an electronic safe, and USB charging ports. These facilities cater to guests who need to stay connected during business trips, as well as those who want a comfortable base from which to explore the region.

For travellers arriving after a day of sightseeing or meetings, the property also offers an all-day dining restaurant. Breakfast brings together local specialities and international favourites, giving guests a choice between familiar dishes and flavours associated with the region. The restaurant's all-day format provides an additional dining option for guests who prefer to eat at the hotel during their visit.

A fitness centre equipped with cardio and strength-training equipment rounds off the principal amenities. The facility allows guests to maintain their regular exercise routines while travelling, adding a wellness component to the hotel's otherwise straightforward accommodation offering.

Together, these facilities reflect the brand's focus on providing the essentials that travellers are likely to need during their stay. Rather than an extensive collection of leisure facilities, the property concentrates on comfortable rooms, dining, connectivity, and fitness.

Exploring Udaipur And Beyond

The hotel's location makes it a potential base for exploring attractions across Udaipur and the surrounding region. Within the city, the City Palace offers a glimpse into Mewar's royal history, with its historic architecture and collections reflecting the legacy of the former kingdom. Beyond Udaipur, guests can plan visits to Eklingji, Delwara, and Haldighati, each associated with Rajasthan's religious, architectural, or historical heritage.

Maharana Pratap Airport is approximately 35 km from the hotel, while Udaipur Railway Station is around 30 kilometres away. Travellers arriving by air or rail will need to account for the onward road journey when planning their itineraries.

The property also participates in Marriott Bonvoy, the group's travel loyalty programme. Members can earn and redeem points on eligible stays at participating hotels and resorts across the portfolio. The Marriott Bonvoy app offers additional features, including personalised services and contactless options, allowing members to manage aspects of their hotel experience digitally.

With its South Asia debut in Udaipur, City Express by Marriott brings another accommodation category into Marriott International's Indian portfolio. The 56-room hotel combines functional amenities with access to a destination known for its heritage and religious tourism, catering to travellers who want a convenient base for exploring southern Rajasthan. The company has not announced the hotel's room rates or provided further details of the brand's expansion plans in India.
