PM Modi Inaugurates 103 Amrit Bharat Stations Across 18 States And UTs

Indian Railways stations have undergone a significant transformation as part of a nationwide initiative aimed at improving rail infrastructure. On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a remarkable redevelopment effort, inaugurating 103 revamped railway stations across 86 districts in 18 states and union territories. This initiative is a key component of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which seeks to enhance passenger amenities and modernise railway facilities.

During a visit to Deshnoke, located approximately 30 km from Bikaner, he also inaugurated the newly developed Deshnoke railway station and conducted a virtual inauguration for the 102 additional stations across the country.

Modi also inaugurated a series of ambitious development projects, with a total investment of around INR 26,000 crore. These projects encompass a diverse range of sectors, including railways, roadways, power, water supply, and renewable energy, all designed to drive economic growth. In the energy sector, investments in renewable sources underscore the government's commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship.

Which Railway Stations Will Be Upgraded As Part Of Amrit Bharat Station Scheme?

The comprehensive redevelopment of these 103 stations represents a substantial investment, with costs exceeding INR 1,100 crore, aimed at elevating the travel experience for millions of passengers. The stations that are planned to be redeveloped include 19 in Uttar Pradesh, 18 in Gujarat, and 15 in Maharashtra. Additionally, Modi has also launched eight railway projects in Rajasthan, nine in Tamil Nadu, and six in Madhya Pradesh.

Other states that are included in this initiative are Chhattisgarh and Karnataka, each receiving five stations; Jharkhand, Telangana, and West Bengal with three stations each; and two stations in Bihar and Kerala. Notably, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Puducherry are also included, each with one station receiving upgrades.

The launch of a new weekly train service connecting Bandra Terminus in Mumbai to Bikaner station in Rajasthan further complements this initiative.

Designs Of The Revamped Stations

The design and architecture of several railway stations are inspired by local themes. For instance, Deshnoke railway station, which serves pilgrims and tourists visiting the Karni Mata Temple, heavily reflects temple architecture. Begumpet railway station in Telangana incorporates design elements inspired by the architecture of the Kakatiya Empire, while Thawe station in Bihar features murals and artworks depicting Madhubani paintings. Dakor station in Gujarat is inspired by Ranchhodrai Ji Maharaj.

New Facilities at Train Stations

Passengers can expect modern facilities at these railway stations. This includes entry and exit points, waiting halls, toilets, platforms, and roofing. Additionally, lifts, escalators, and free WiFi are provided where necessary. Enhanced signage and information systems have also been implemented to assist passengers. Some stations will have executive lounges and designated areas for business meetings. Local products will be available at kiosks under the 'One Station One Product' scheme.
