The gorgeous blue lagoons of Venice have provided a gorgeous backdrop to a host of Bollywood movies over the decades. The Italian city has since then made it to the bucket list of many wanderlust craving Indians. Whether it is the rustic Italian architecture, the life changing boat rides, or the delectable Venetian specialties- this historic city is a tourist's paradise.

But, traveling to Venice has just become more expensive and a tad bit inconvenient. The Italian city will soon be introducing a booking system and an entry fee for tourists that will soar to &euro10 on the busiest days. The move was said to be an obligation to make the city more liveable and for managing and tracking the number of tourists that enter Venice.

The charges are all set to go in motion from May 1. The initial charges will be &euro3 until the end of the year. From 2020 though, prices will witness a steep rise with the standard fee doubling to &euro6, increasing to &euro8 in the peak season and &euro10 on the most demanding days of that season. These changes are being made keeping the long term safety of the city in mind. The hope is to&nbspencourage&nbsptourists to book entry in advance. The money that the tourists will pay will be utilized for maintenance, to enhance local businesses, and to ensure security.
