Udupi is set to transform its coastal beaches into top tourist destinations with an ambitious plan to enhance facilities and promote tourism in the region, state media reports. The focus will be on upgrading popular spots like Daria Bahadur, Malti islands, Someshwara, and Trasi beaches, making them more appealing to both local and international tourists. The announcement for the same was made by the Udupi Deputy Commissioner K. Vidyakumari during a meeting, state reports. he meeting, reports state, was attended by Udupi MLA, Yashpal Suvarna; Byndoor MLA, Gururaj Ghantiholi; Superintendent of Police, K. Arun; and Udupi City Municipality Commissioner, Udya Kumar Shetty.
According to reports, key upgrades to improve Udupi's beaches include better infrastructure, such as streetlights along NH-66 to improve safety and the introduction of water sports activities at Trasi Beach. Reportedly, a unique approach will combine river and ocean adventures to offer thrilling yet safe experiences for beachgoers. Reports further note that the deputy commissioner has also urged the state board to arrange adequate seating and parking facilities at Someshwara Beach to accommodate the influx of visitors.
Additionally, she also urged enforcing strict rent collection measures for shops, cottages, and other tourism-related businesses in the Malpe Beach area.
This initiative is designed to elevate the appeal of Udupi beaches, positioning them as a must-visit destination for tourists seeking relaxation, adventure, and natural beauty. With these enhancements, Udupi is poised to boost its reputation as a premier tourism hub along India's coastline.
