Q

Delhi’s tourism focus is moving beyond monuments. How do the New Circuit and Delhi Tourism trails reflect this new travel identity?

A

Delhi’s tourism narrative is expanding from static monuments to immersive, story-driven experiences. The New Circuit links spaces such as Kartavya Path, the National War Memorial, the Prime Minister’s Museum and the new Parliament, allowing visitors to experience contemporary governance, civic pride and national memory in one connected journey. Public transport trails further this shift by offering curated routes on electric buses, complete with guided narration, connecting landmarks, event venues, and cultural districts.

Q

Eco-tourism is a key priority. What’s the broader vision behind the nature walks, wildlife drives, and biodiversity park plans?

A

The broader eco-tourism vision is to reintroduce Delhi as a city rooted in nature, not just concrete and monuments. Planned nature walks and curated visits to biodiversity parks aim to educate visitors about native ecosystems while encouraging responsible travel. Biodiversity parks become outdoor classrooms where conservation and recreation intersect. This approach diversifies tourism, promotes environmental stewardship and offers residents and visitors quieter, reflective experiences.

Q

With the “Brand Delhi” campaign, what global image do you want to project for the city?

A

The “Brand Delhi” campaign aims to project the city as a dynamic global capital that merges heritage and creativity with contemporary culture. The focus is on presenting Delhi as a year-round destination offering festivals, arts, cuisine, public spaces, and modern infrastructure alongside its historic legacy. Internationally, the campaign seeks to reposition Delhi from a stopover city to a cultural hub with global relevance. Through strategic branding, events and storytelling, the city wants to communicate energy, diversity and depth, appealing to leisure travellers, cultural explorers, and global audiences seeking meaningful urban experiences. This initiative is part of a larger, expanded budget designed to enhance Delhi's global appeal.

Q

You’ve said Delhi’s story lies as much in its soil and rivers as in its stone. How will you connect biodiversity parks and the Yamuna floodplains to tourism while maintaining ecological balance?

A

Delhi plans to integrate biodiversity parks and the Yamuna floodplains into tourism through controlled, nature-friendly experiences such as birdwatching and ecological interpretation programmes. These spaces will be positioned as living landscapes that tell the story of the city’s relationship with nature. Visitor movement will be carefully managed to prevent ecological damage, with emphasis on education and conservation rather than mass tourism.

Q

How will the Global Wildlife Fair and seasonal festivals boost local livelihoods and a creative tourism economy?

A

Large-scale events and seasonal festivals act as economic catalysts by creating direct opportunities for local communities, artists and small businesses. Platforms like the Global Wildlife Fair connect conservation, tourism and entrepreneurship, allowing local guides, artisans and operators to showcase their work. Seasonal festivals celebrating food, culture and nature extend tourist activity beyond peak seasons. This steady flow of events supports livelihoods, encourages creative expression and stimulates spending across hospitality, crafts, and services.
