The&nbspUttarakhand government has announced that the Char Dam Yatra will be suspended this year in the wake of COVID-19 situation in the state. 

The yatra, which had been scheduled to begin on May 14, will now take place with only priests of the four temples, Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat said.

The Chief Minister stated that the decision was taken in view of the rising cases of increasing infections in the state. 

The priests of the temple will perform all the rituals and puja of the Yatra this year. 

The Char Dham Yatra goes through four pilgrimage sites of Kedarnath, Yamunotri, Badrinath, and Gangotri.

The Char Dham Yatra shrines will open as per announced dates - Badrinath is slated to open on May 18 at&nbsp4.15 am, and the Kedarnath temple will open on May 17.
