If you don&rsquot take trains because they take longer to reach, you might have to change your mind. The Indian Railways is all set to increase the speed of the trains which in turn will reduce your travel time. Putting the current infrastructure to best use, the Indian Railways is all set to increase the speed of the trains across the existing rail network.
According to reports, all the impediments that were instrumental in the slow-running of trains such as unmanned railway crossings, non-interlocked sections and single-line operations are been removed quickly.
A senior railway official told a newspaper that although the railways have double broad gauge lines with electrification as well as modern locomotives and rakes, a lot of normal and superfast trains are not working to their best capacity on different routes. Therefore, the railways are focussed to resolve this issue. In order to solve the issue of turnaround time for locomotives, which is a time-consuming factor in the functioning of trains, the railway ministry will operate more pull-push trains with locomotives at both the ends, the reports added.
Also, as a part of the upgradation process the railways installed the most advanced Electronic Interlocking System at Tundla Junction in Uttar Pradesh along the Grand Chord route. The Grand Chord route is one of the busiest routes, connecting New Delhi and Howrah. This move will help the Indian Railways to reduce the travel time between New Delhi and Kolkata to 12 hours as compared to the current 17-19 hours.
