OT Which is your favourite hotel in the world
Sandra Bullock I&rsquom absolutely in love with the San Ysidro Ranch (from $585 sanysidroranch.com) in Santa Barbara, California. I was told that in the 19th century it was home to Franciscan monks, but it has been a hotel since the 1930s. If that isn&rsquot fascinating enough, I love that its rooms have open fires, the place has well-tended gardens and it is English country in the heart of California
OT What do you do when you get there
Sandra Bullock There is so much to do in and around the place Nestled in the foothills of the Santa Ynez Mountains nearby are 17 miles of hiking trails. The gardens are filled with orange groves. They win your heart with the quaint things they do &mdash each guest finds personalised stationery in their desk when they check in. There are hand-stitched French quilts. The Kennedy Cottage is something I always prefer to stay at &mdash it has its own outdoor hot tub. And here&rsquos another clincher &mdash the nearby mountains mean it&rsquos impossible to get paparazzi shots from a helicopter. So it is the ultimate hideout
OT And what do you like to eat
Sandra Bullock The contemporary California cuisine at The Stonehouse, built in a former fruit-packing house, and Plow & Angel, where light filters in through stained-glass windows, is incomparable in its flavours and textures. The Stonehouse&rsquos regional cuisine is prepared with a palette of herbs and vegetables harvested from the on-site chef&rsquos garden. Don&rsquot miss their pork chops. They do a soufflé with Grand Marnier &mdash I could die and go straight to heaven after spoonfuls of that
OT Do you plan to visit again soon
Sandra Bullock Oh, as many times as I can I go there at least once a year &mdash even if it is for a weekend getaway
