Best known for his large-scale, immersive light installations, artist Bruce Munro is all set to bring his exhibit to Brookgreen Gardens. Titled &lsquoBruce Munro at Brookgreen Southern Light&rsquo, the exhibit will feature seven works of art lit by LED and fiber optic technology, designed specifically for the natural gardens. The pieces will be both light-based and mixed media. The installations will give visitors the opportunity to literally see the gardens in 'a new light'.
Beginning on April 8, the exhibit will run till September 12, 2020. An immersive experience of art and light, Bruce Munro&rsquos installation will consist of thousands of components. The event will feature 11,700 dandelion-like glowing bulbs in the &lsquoField of Light&rsquo in addition to sections titled &lsquoFireflies&rsquo which will feature 600 sprays in Oak Allée, &lsquoTime And Again&rsquo with 37 lilies in Pegasus Field, &lsquoOkonjima Choral Society&rsquo with 2,000 &ldquofrogs&rdquo behind the garden wall at the Rosen Carolina Terrace, &ldquoHive&rdquo with 1,448 hexagonal diffusers in the Bell Tower, &ldquoReflections&rdquo which is essentially 4 animations highlighting the arcade between the Welcome Center and Keepsakes and &ldquoWater-Towers&rdquo which is 10 Towers in the grassy area behind Fillies Playing. As per reports, Munro stated lights have played a major part in his life and work and it&rsquos a natural medium for him to use.
Many versions of these mixed media installations have popped up in several places including South Korea, Denmark, UK, Houston, Nashville, Columbia, and Ohio, since its debut in 2016 in Uluru. However, this is the only opportunity to experience the artist's installations in the Eastern United States in 2020.
