Alila Fort Bishangarh’s New Tent Suites & Villas Redefine Weddings And Slow Luxury In Rajasthan

In a conversation with General Manager Sanjay Patti, discover how Alila Fort Bishangarh blends regal heritage with intimate new Villas and Tent Suites for weddings and wellness
Published on

In the heart of Rajasthan, Alila Fort Bishangarh—a 235-year-old warrior fort reborn as a luxury retreat—has unveiled its new Tent Suites and Villas, designed to transform how guests experience weddings, wellness, and slow luxury. While the Fort exudes grandeur with its battlements, arches, and Darbar halls, the new Villas and Tents offer intimate sanctuaries carved into the landscape, complete with private plunge pools, open-air tubs, and sweeping Aravalli views. Together, they create a rare duality: celebration and stillness, heritage and nature. Sanjay Patti, General Manager of Alila Fort Bishangarh, shares how this expansion deepens the guest journey with authenticity, wellness, and soulful experiences.

Q

Alila Fort Bishangarh has always stood out for its timeless character. What led to the introduction of Tent Suites and Villas?

A

Alila Fort is a living legacy—235 years of warrior spirit, layered with quiet grace. We didn’t add Tent Suites and Villas to expand our footprint; we created them to deepen the guest experience. Where the Fort is bold and majestic, the Villas and Tents are personal, fluid, and intimate, designed for guests who seek privacy, connection to nature, and a slower rhythm of travel. These sanctuaries are gently sculpted into the earth, with temperature-controlled plunge pools, open-air jetted tubs, and sweeping views of the Aravallis. They invite a sensory stillness—to hear birdsong echoing at dawn, feel the sun-warmed stone underfoot, and breathe in the wild silence of the hills. The expansion also evokes the spirit of the camps once nestled at the base of ancient forts—spaces where warriors paused, reflected, and prepared for the path ahead. Here, that essence lives on—not recreated, but gently revived in a form that speaks to both heritage and serenity.

Q

The Fort is especially evocative in winter. Can you share what that’s like from a guest’s perspective?

A

Winter at the Fort feels dreamlike. If you’re standing at Nazaara at sunrise, you’ll feel like you’re floating through a sea of clouds. The fog gently wraps around the battlements, and the sun rises slow and golden. You’ll see it warm the mustard fields below—green and yellow patches sparkling with dew like sequins. In the village, the morning light hits the grass and turns each droplet into a pearl resting on green leaves. Our guests often say: “We didn’t just see nature—we became part of it.” The Tent Suites and Villas, with their wide glass walls and open patios, place you inside that softness.

Q

Alila Fort is already an iconic wedding destination. How do the Villas and Tents change the way a celebration unfolds?

A

Weddings at Alila are more than an event—they’re a journey. The Fort provides the grandeur—Darbar Halls, candle-lit arches, baoris echoing with shehnai. But now, the Tent Suites and Villas offer a contrasting softness. Couples and families use them as sacred spaces for rituals, recovery and reflection. The bride might begin her day with yoga by her private pool, the groom might gather with friends over a serene brunch in his villa. For destination weddings, this duality is priceless. You can celebrate in splendour and retreat into stillness—all within one canvas.

Q

Alila is known for “slow luxury.” What does that mean to you, practically and philosophically?

A

Slow luxury is about anchoring you in the present moment. At Alila, we don’t rush you through a checklist of experiences. Instead, we create opportunities for discovery at your own pace—be it a guided spice walk with our chef, a silent breakfast while watching the fog lift, or a Lac-bangle making session that becomes a conversation about lineage and art. Slow luxury gives our guests the freedom to notice—to breathe, taste, feel. And the Villas and Tents, nestled in nature, are designed precisely for that quiet noticing.

Q

Can you highlight a few experiences that showcase this philosophy—especially for couples and families?

A

At Alila Fort Bishangarh, we see travel as a living exchange—where culture, community, and nature are not simply observed but felt. In Daya ki Rasoi, our guests step into the heart of a village kitchen, cooking alongside a village lady and hearing her stories that season every dish. Poetic Moments invite quiet reflection beneath ancient arches, where verses echo into the sky. These authentic connections extend to the stillness of our Private Villas—secluded sanctuaries with panoramic views, where couples and families can retreat into nature’s embrace. Whether harvesting in the fields, sharing chai with an artisan, or wandering trails through the Aravalli hills, each moment becomes a learning, a memory, and a celebration of shared humanity. Each of these experiences is rooted in place and shaped by purpose.

Q

How is wellness integrated in the guest journey?

A

Wellness here isn’t confined to a spa—it’s in the way the first light gently enters your room, the stillness of the Fort’s stone embracing you, and the nourishment drawn from our own gardens. Alongside full-body Ayurvedic massages, stone therapy, and intuitive healing, guests may enjoy private spa rituals in our Villas beneath the open sky. At Nazaara, you dine under the stars in the open air, savouring Shekhawati recipes and farm-fresh harvests. Or join a Rajasthani Rasoda masterclass—collecting ingredients from our organic farm, cooking, and learning from it. Breathe deeply, feel the earth beneath your feet, and listen to bird melodies. The goal is not detox—it’s deep reconnection.

Q

Tell us about your F&B philosophy—especially how it ties into regional luxury?

A

Food is one of our strongest storytellers. At Amarsar, guests can sample flavours from the Silk Route; at Nazaara, they enjoy fire-grilled dishes with a view that changes every day, every season. We source local grains, dairy, greens and spices. Seasonal produce from nearby farms becomes part of our thali or a wedding spread. Our chef curates regional dining menus, and we host immersive sessions like Daya Ki Rasoi, where guests cook with women from local villages. This is where luxury becomes inclusive, not isolating.

Q

In terms of service, how does Alila differentiate itself from other luxury hotels or tented resorts?

A

Our team doesn’t just serve—they guide, share, and intuit. We know when to step back and when to step in. We might prepare a surprise foot massage when a guest returns from a hike, or help them photograph mustard fields in golden hour. Our hosts are from around Bishangarh—they know the soil, the sky, the stories. And that makes our service not just personal, but profoundly local.

Q

Lastly, what do you hope your guests take back with them—emotionally or experientially?

A

I hope they leave with a sense of stillness. That they feel they didn’t just stay at a fort, or a villa, or a tent, but that they were held by a place. A place where they could be present, unhurried, and gently transformed. That’s what we mean by ‘Luxury with a Local Soul.'
