Uttarakhand has Reopened, Head out for the Mountains

OT Staff

The government of Uttarakhand just lifted all travel restrictions on inter-district and inter-state travel, as well as any restrictions for international travellers. So start planning a summer trip to the mountains.

Here's what you need to know before heading out

Homestays and hotels outside the state's containment zones will be open for business.

The guidelines (issued today, July 2), say if you are coming from other parts of the country, you will have to upload your COVID-19 test report on the webportal https://smartcity dehradun.uk.gov.in.

At the time of entry, district authorities will ensure verification of your medicals reports at all border checkposts.

Hotels will also ensure that visitors have undergone RT-PCR tests from ICMR-authorised labs not earlier than 72 hours from the time of arrival, reflecting the COVID-19 negative report.

Those visiting the state from outside India will have to register themselves on the web portal and undergo a period of seven days each in institutional and home quarantine.

Inter-district travellers are exempted from quarantine. However, they have to register themselves on the web portal prior to the journey.

You can stay for as long as you want, there is no limit prescribed for the duration of any visit. However, hotels or homestays are required to take bookings for a minimum of seven days from tourists.

Bars situated within hotel premises will not be allowed to operate, yet, but hotels can serve liquor as part of room service, subject to the compliance of social distancing and safety.

So head on out for a short break in the mountains, or book a long stay, and work from home in the hills
