Want to Avoid Quarantine Try the CovidPass App

With holiday plans up in the air and quarantine rules in place across the world, the travel sector has hit an all-time low. According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization, global tourism shrank by almost 97% in April alone. But with new developments quick changes and tweaks and various adaptations, travel is picking up and the future looks pretty hopeful.

One such new thing on the horizon is the CovidPass. Developed and planned by a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader (YGL), Mustapha Mokass, it uses blockchain technology to store encrypted data from individual blood tests, allowing users to prove that they have tested negative for COVID-19. And unlike other non-mandatory contact tracing apps, this health app will not record your contacts or other personal data.

Due to be launched in September, this app might come as a relief to the tourism sector as hotels, restaurants and flights can use it to ensure safety. People will no longer have to go into quarantine as they arrive from a high affected country.

The project also involves other notable YGLs like Muna AbuSulayman and Peggy Liu and seems to be quite a big step in monitoring cases and facilitating the rise of the travel and tourism sector.
