The outbreak of COVID-19 might have restricted travel for a while. But various countries are gradually opening their doors, some, like Italy, as early as June. The Indonesian island of Bali will also reopen its borders by October 2020.

Known for its forested volcanic mountains and beaches, Bali is on the bucket list of many, especially in Asia. According to reports, the island is planning to reopen between June and October. The tourism ministry is looking to &lsquorevitalise&rsquo certain major destinations and if all goes well and there are no major outbreaks, Bali will welcome international travellers from October. Meanwhile, tourism promotional work is being carried out.

Bali is also the pilot project for a CHS (cleanliness, heath and safety) programme as a strategy to accelerate the recovery of tourism and creative economy sector post the pandemic.

According to a report, Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani, Ministry of Tourism, said that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is currently preparing recovery measures including compiling SOP which refers to health, cleanliness, and safety standards. The concept of the program includes health protocols issued by the Health Ministry and sustainable tourism development.

Currently, Indonesian borders are shut and only citizens, diplomats and family members are permitted with new entry requirements.
