A Delhiwalas Shangri-La Shimla in Pictures

Missing the wonders of old Shimla Relive it all through these pictures

It has the same bearings that many hill havens accessible to Delhiites do, but I've always found the sights and sounds of Shimla issuing towards me from its lovelier past. The winding streets of its sundry bazaars throw the wreath of memory around one&rsquos girth and the charm of its ever-proliferating shops and bakeries dares them to leave.

I found ol&rsquo Shimla to be the living proof of what&rsquos written in books about British summer capitals.&nbspIts curious residents and playful animals, sauntering around with blissful indifference, make for a dynamic portrait of life in a tourist hub.

It is heartening to see that the innocence of traditional coffee shops and chai dhabas lodged inside the layers of the older Lower Bazaar hasn&rsquot yet come in contact with the worldliness of their big-city cousins that thrive alongside the fast-growing behemoth of tourism and commerce.
