How To Plan A 2-Day Budget Trip To Gstaad

Going to Switzerland is usually preferred by people looking to enjoy the snow. But the beautiful country has so much to offer, even during summer. Gstaad, the well-known resort town, is one such place in Switzerland where you could have as much fun in summer as in winter. During winter, the region's peak tourist season, you will dent your pockets much more than when you go during the off-season. In the summer months of June to September, Gstaad is green and snowless, letting you have a glimpse at a different side of the upscale-resort town.

Tickets

Try and book tickets as early as possible and keep a check on discounts and special schemes. Instead of a direct flight, take one with layovers, which are, more often than not, cheaper. 

Stay

You can book an Airbnb, which would be cheaper than grand hotels. The Parkhotel Bellevue and The Alpina Gstaad, an eco-certified hotel, are also good options for a stay.

Eat

Try going out to the farmer's market and eat out at small local eateries. If staying at a homestay try eating home-cooked local meals instead of going out much. 

Hiking and Mountain Trails

Elevated at 1050 metres above the sea, Gstaad is located in the middle of the Saanenland region and during summer, it offers some of the most stunning trails to hike on. 

Gondola Rides

You can take gondola rides up to the mountains and enjoy the scenic views as you go up. Spend some time taking in the view from the top or look for new nature trails to hike on before coming down. You can also take a picnic and eat a majestic meal with the most enviable view.

Seatless Scooters

There are scooters available to rent from up to come down. Complete your hike and rent one of these seatless scooters where you have to stand and pedal ahead. Take a round of the town on it and explore it at your own pace, literally.

Pick Up The Local Language

Since Gstaad borders the French-speaking area of Switzerland, it has a mix of not just French-speaking locals but also German, Italian and English. Although it is challenging to pick up any language in 48 days, let alone hours, you will not suddenly become fluent in German, but you can indulge yourself and learn some new words from the locals.
