Google has just announced its annual roundup of Year in Search trends covering various topics, including tourism.

Google has released its Year in Search report for 2022, and it had some pretty interesting insights into travel searches which seem to have increased after many countries reopened their borders and lifted Covid restrictions in the last 12 months. The&nbsptrending destinations from Google Flights searches has revealed the top 10 places that Americans were inquiring about this year. And two major centers of India, Mumbai and New Delhi, have made the list. This could be related to the fact that India reopened its borders at the end of 2021, and US passport holders can now apply online for a travel visa.

Google has explained that there is a difference between "most searched" and "top trending" destinations, as in &ldquothe 'trending' queries are the searches that had a high spike in traffic over a sustained period in 2022 as compared to 2021.&rdquo

Topping the list of trending destination was London. In fact, Buckingham Palace and Big Ben came in at number one and two on Google Maps&rsquo list of top cultural landmarks. 

Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam has ranked second in the list. The country reopened its borders in early 2022. 

Number three was Paris, New Delhi was at fourth, Toronto at the fifth position, Rome was sixth, Mumbai was seventh, Vancouver was at number eight, Lisbon was at nine, and New York came in at number ten.
