The Shire, a place from J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth (described in The Lord of the Rings and other works), is notable for being the home of the Hobbits and Frodo Baggins. The iconic homes in this lush green area are known for their intricate layouts and perfectly round entrances. Fortunately for the countless Lord of the Rings enthusiasts, the actual filming locations are still in New Zealand and welcome thousands of visitors each year on tours. There are also a few motels close to the filming locations where guests can spend the night in a Hobbit hole.
