Khecheopalri Lake

One of the biggest lakes in Sikkim is Khecheopalri Lake, sometimes referred to as Kha-Chot-Palri. This lake, 6,000 feet above sea level, is encircled by a thick forest. According to a folktale, the lake is the footprint of Tara Jetsun Dolma, a female Bodhisattva known as the Mother of Freedom. Lord Padmasambhava is also believed to have preached at Khecheopalri Lake. Due to its popularity, this lake attracts tourists and pilgrims from both Hindu and Buddhist faiths worldwide. 

Kartok Monastery

Khangchendzonga National Park  

Khangchendzonga National Park is a recognised UNESCO World Heritage Site. It covers an area of 1,784 square kilometres and is home to various species. About 500 different kinds of birds are found in this environment. 

Dudbi Monastery 

Also called the Yuksom Monastery, this dates back to the early 1700s, and was established by Lhatsun Namkha Jigme. The monastery is situated on a verdant plot of land that beautifully combines spiritual and natural worlds. It is painted and carved in a traditional Buddhist manner with stunning embellishments. Yuksom Bazaar  

The local market in town comprises a few tiny stores where you can buy groceries and home goods. The bazaar also has a few caf&eacutes where visitors can linger over a hot cuppa.
