If travelling by train, Chikkamagaluru is connected through the Kadur junction on the Bangalore to Shivamogga route, about 40 kilometres away. There are also train options from Mangalore. Opting for a car is the most convenient way to reach Chikmagalur, and the state-run bus transportation services offer good connectivity from major towns in Karnataka. Once in Chikmagalur, having a car or taxi is advisable, especially for exploring the hills and waterfalls.
