A three-day long celebration of music, dance, handicraft fairs and fascinating competitions such as the 'turban-tying' contest and the 'best moustache' contest. The Gair dance and the Fire dance are great crowd pullers. The Desert Festival of Jaisalmer is popular with tourists from home and abroad. Besides the food, the music and the cultural performances, there are camel rides, processions, camel polo, and even a camel tug-of-war. All of it is held against the backdrop of the beautiful Jaisalmer Fort, which is illuminated at night. Watch the fireworks light up the sky at night.
