If you are visiting Udaipur, the lake city of Rajasthan, on October 19, then why not budget some time to visit the exhibition which will be put up by artists from home and abroad on the theme of 'Oceans of Connectivity'
The exhibition will be the culmination of the second edition of the ASEAN-India Artists' Camp organised as part of the observation of 30 years of ASEAN-India diplomatic ties.
Association of Southeast Asian Nations, better known by its acronym ASEAN, is a political and economic group of countries, which includes Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. India, though not a part of ASEAN, maintains a close relationship with the association. Interestingly, all the ASEAN countries as well as India are connected with each other by sea and oceans.
Therefore, the collaborative event, partnered by India's Ministry of External Affairs and SEHER, has invited artists from the various member nations and India to interpret the ocean in their own way. Multiple interdisciplinary activities for the visiting artists, exposure to Indian arts and traditions, lecture demonstrations, seminars, discussions and educational visits will be a part of this camp which is being held in Udaipur.
List of participating artists from ASEAN countries include Samrit Keo (Cambodia), Eddy Sulistyo (Indonesia), Melissa Abuga (Philippines), Aye Myat Soe (Myanmar), Nabil Fikri Bin Haronli, (Brunei Darussalam), Sone Khounpaseuth (Lao PDR), Edroger Rosili (Malaysia), Nguyen Phuong Linh (Vietnam), and Phattaraporn Leanpanit (Thailand).
Particpating from India are Sonika Agarwal, Japani Shyam, Nupur Kundu, Laishram Meena Devi, Anjum Khan, Nin Taneja, Vanita Gupta, Yogendra Tripathi, Mayur Kailash Gupta, Dileep Dharma and Basant Bhargav.
Sanjeev Bhargava, Founder Director of Seher, said, "The second edition of ASEAN-India Artists' Camp clearly indicates that the first edition was a roaring success in bringing people from India and the ASEAN countries together. The camp will take place in Udaipur, where artists will create their work, spend time with each other and exchange ideas. They will also be familiarised with the rich cultural traditions and heritage of all the participating countries.
