On October 23&nbspand 24 this year, the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan is holding the Royal Highland Festival . The event will highlight the splendour and beauty of the Gasa Dzongkhag and the lives and culture of Bhutan's nomadic highland people. 

Venue 

The Royal Highland Festival will&nbspbe held in Laya, a remote highland at around 4,000 metres (12,000 feet), in the Gasa district lying in the northwestern part of the country. It is one of Bhutan's most picturesque festival locations. 

Things To See 

The Layaps, the indigenous people of Laya, will conduct various cultural programmes, including traditional dances, songs, recitations etc.Parades, games, and even contests featuring highland animals are some of the highlights of the two day event.

Getting There

Visitors may travel to Tongchudra and then undertake a 6-hour climb to Laya, which is also one of Bhutan's most spectacular treks. But according to those who have been on this trek, it is not an easy one trekkers have to be physically fit and with some experience of hard treks.

However, you may also opt for a helicopter ride.
