All You Need To Know About The ASEAN-India Music Festival 2022

The Ministry of External Affairs and Seher (a performing and visual arts organization in India) are all set to host the second ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) India Music Festival in India to commemorate 30 years of diplomatic ties between India and ASEAN&ndasha political and economic union of 11 member states in Southeast Asia. The three-day festival, which will feature performances by five Indian bands and ten ASEAN nations, will be held on November 18, 19, and 20 at New Delhi's famed Purana Qila to encourage cultural interaction and understanding between ASEAN and India.

Sanjeev Bhargava, Founder Director of Seher, said, "The second edition of ASEAN-India Music Festival 2022, is the celebration of 30 years of India-ASEAN relationship, marking 2022 as ASEAN-India Friendship Year."

Talking about the aim that drives the music festival, he further added, "The festival provides a platform for the artists to initiate a deeper understanding of the values and traditions of ASEAN and India, as music transcends boundaries and unites people from diverse regions."

Aim
The ASEAN India Music Festival 2022 will promote a greater appreciation and understanding of the participating countries' rich musical histories. It will also raise people's awareness of their shared ASEAN identity, and provide ASEAN India musicians with more exposure. By highlighting the diversity of musical traditions while examining their similarities, such festivals are crucial for fostering intercultural understanding.

Participating Countries
The ASEAN countries participating in the event include Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Performances
Vietnam's Tri Minh's Quartet, Malaysia's Instamuzika, Cambodia's RizerXSuffer, Brunei Darussalam's Empty Wallet, and India's Papon will perform on November 18. The Lao Traditional Music Troupe of Lao PDR, Makaohang of Thailand, Faridkot and Amar Jalal of India, Linying Band of Singapore, and India's Jonita Gandhi will perform on the second day. Bayang Barrios at Ang Naliyagan from the Philippines, Riau Rhythm from Indonesia, Raghav Meattle from India, MRTV Modern Music band from Myanmar, and Vishal and Shekhar from India will perform on the festival's last day.

What Else Can You Expect
Multiple concerts will also take place as part of the pre and post-event festivities to allow participating bands the opportunity to perform more than once. To emphasize the &lsquoAct East Policy&rsquo, the festival will also take place in Shillong, Meghalaya, which is a gateway to ASEAN.
