Before my trip to Singapore I often wondered what Singapore was all about. Of course there&rsquos more to Singapore than crazy rich Asians. I found my answer in the many places I sat down for a bit or ten. A beautiful mix of the West, Malay, Indian and Chinese culture was a refreshing thing to experience in Singapore. Singaporeans brought these cultures in their cuisine and gave an unforgetful experience to a first-timer who explored the city-state one dish at a time.

The Tiong Bahru Club

Located on the 57 Eng Hoon Street, The Tiong Bahru Club Singapura is a heritage-style vintage bistro, taproom and an all-day communal leisure dining establishment. The grandeur of the old Singapura can be felt and experienced at this small yet classy joint. And with what gusto this little establishment treat their chai (Hint Chaiholics). From their Old Raj Breakfast to chicken satay to club rules that prohibits visitors from talking loud to sleeping in the toilet, this place is a hoot I went Malay and Indian here and loved the satay while had conflicting feelings for the biryani. Their okra fritters are calling me back thiugh. Sucati, a sugarcane martini, comes with an orchid and is a must have.

Atlas Singapore
When there&rsquos a fancy watering hole that has been ranked #4 in World&rsquos 50 Best Bars, you go and drink the house special The Classic Martini. At Atlas, everything, from drinks to d&eacutecor, is inspired by the Arts D&eacutecoratifs. Atlas Bar with its high ceiling and artistic murals gives out a feeling that you are truly surrounded by the great art and creativity of the bygone centuries. And probably one is. Atlas is located on the Parkview Square, 600 North Bridge Road. The place is not just great for drinks but for food too.

Bee&rsquos Knees and Botanico at The Garage

The building where Bee&rsquos Knees is located, The Garage, is a conserved colonial building, around since the 1920s Situated right at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, Bee&rsquos Knees is at Level 1 and Botanico is at Level 2 of The Garage. If you are in a mood for some sandwiches and pizza, head to Bee&rsquos Knees, Botanico has a cool bar where you can even mix a cocktail of your own and even name it I named mine Dihkuailiu, because, why not

Lau Pa Sat

If &ldquoexpensive Singapore&rdquo worries you then dining at Lau Pa Sat is the best thing one could do in Singapore. Why Because it is only the best place in town for some delicious and authentic local cuisine. Hainanese chicken rice is a dish you need to order and go for a fresh glass of sugarcane juice too. If you think that food is the only thing that draws diners to Lau Pa Sat, then think again. Lau Pa Sat is a blend of history, great architecture and even better food, a landmark known to all. And not just that, the food court was even gazette a national monument in 1973

Here at National Kitchen by Violet Oon, food becomes the master embassador of culture. The 1920s-style dining room is where the magic of Peranakan cuisine unfolds. Peranakans are the descendants of 15th- and 16th-century Chinese immigrants who, if one may say, are the true Singaporean locals. With a unique cuisine of their own, Peranakans is what one needs to go for when exploring the authentic Singaporean cuisine.

The White Rabbit

And down in the rabbit hole we go with this one&hellipDempsey district is home to this 1930s restored Ebenezer Chapel, now a restaurant and a bar. This Alice in Wonderland inspired restaurant is now a part of heritage tour. When it&rsquos about The White Rabbit there is a charm that is none too hard to describe. Sorrounded by lust greenery, the old building is a refreshing sight to see. Inside, there are stained glass windows that adorn the high walls that still give out that old church vibe. The bar, The Rabbit Hole, is a dream. Armed with adorable details, The Rabbit Hole does make you want to look out for a girl tumbling about and a nervous rabbit. Here at The White Rabbit go for their seafood pot for mains and delicious crepes with an orange reduction for dessert.
