Atelier September at Kronprinsessegade in Copenhagen is a cool cafe housed in what once was an antique store. The cafe has an easy-breezy vibe with muted and clean interiors. You will feel calm as you step through the white-rimmed glass door between grey-bricked walls. The cracked yet aesthetically placed blue pottery plates on the walls, combined with the light brown furniture, give the cafe a charming look.

Their menu offers a range of coffee options with freshly tossed omelettes and baked croissants making it a perfect spot for an early morning breakfast or even a coffee date. Their iced americano and matcha latte along with all their other coffee options are must-tries.

From their food menu, try Avocadomad, a sandwich generously layered with slices of avocado and sprinkled with spring onions and chilli flakes. Their french omelette and the one with kale and harissa is also worth trying.

The Union Kitchen Østerbro

What To Order?

Their Hangover Bacon cheeseburger and potato rosti from the "breakfast to mid day menu" are must-tries. For all your sweet cravings, pair these with grace’s granola or buttermilk pancakes.

If you have a visit planned in the evening, their vitello tonnato (veal, tuna cream, capers & black pepper) and beef meatballs come under the restaurant favorites. La Glace

What To Order?

La Glace offers an assortment of ice creams, iconic layer cakes, cookies, and pastries. The lemon twist, wrapped in Italian meringue is an absolute must-try. Topped with a chocolate macaroon is konsensus (passion mousse, mango/passion gel, light chocolate mousse on a chocolate biscuit), their most loved pastry. You can’t step out of La Glace without trying their Parisersnitte. It is a shortcrust pastry base with apricot marmalade and decorated with white icing. They also offer some coolers with shakes and coffee options too. 

Grød 

Grød is the city’s first porridge-only restaurant with eight branches across Copenhagen. The Scandinavian interiors with low lighting, dark walls, and light wood furniture give a rather cosy atmosphere. The restaurant boasts an extensive list of sweet and savoury porridge options, and none of them are boring with several toppings to choose from.

What To Order?

Red Daal, a traditional Indian lentil porridge made with cherry tomatoes, coriander, salt almonds and Icelandic yoghurt, is one of their standout dishes. The restaurant loyalists suggest that one should not miss their barley-otto fritters with sriracha-dip and the all-in! Porridge. Grød also offers a fleet of homemade drinks like carrot juice and beetroot juice. Seems like they started the ABC juice trend much before we all jumped on the bandwagon. Grød seems like the ‘it’ place in Copenhagen for a hearty yet healthy brunch or lunch.

POPL Burger

Set in the picturesque Christianshavn neighbourhood is POPL Burger, a burger bar that is the brainchild of the Noma team. Noma is a three-Michelin restaurant in Copenhagen. POPL is a neighbourhood spot where people come together for their love of well-crafted burgers. The interiors are earthy and raw, letting all the focus go to the burgers and cocktails on their menu. 

What To Order?

The restaurant has a separate and compact lunch and dinner menu. The dinner menu has an experience as well as a classic menu. The restaurant is very careful about the ingredients it uses, and its burgers are made with great respect for produce and nature.

POPL’s cheeseburger has a league of its own while its cocktails are enjoyed by many. Try their gin-based kombu gimlet and pumpkin negroni. Their coolers, like folk kombucha (sour cherry kombucha) and kado (ginger, lemon, and apple soda) are refreshing. To finish your meal on a sweet note, elderflower souffle with chamomile creme anglaise and berry compote is worth trying.
