Some years ago, I disembarked from a roller coaster ride in Orlando&rsquos Disneyworld, entirely persuaded that I had survived a near-death experience. My heart beat oddly, my hands shook and I tottered till I found something to hold. Really, I am no braveheart. Yet here I was, signed up for a week of adventure in western Canada. I approached it with the caution I generally reserve for scary movies. There was kayaking, hiking, a 4D virtual flight, horseback riding, heli-yoga (huh), a suspension bridge crossing, a floatplane trip, a &lsquomountain-top adventure&rsquo and the rodeo lined up. If I was still up and about, I expected to recuperate at a spa or two.
