Vaduz Castle

Vaduz Castle is the official residence of the prince of Liechtenstein.

Perched approximately 120 m above the capital city of Vaduz, Schloss Vaduz has served as the residence of the Liechtenstein royal family since the 12th century. The castle overlooks the picturesque Rhine River and the Swiss Alps. Generally closed to visitors, it opens on one special day (August 15 on Liechtenstein National Day) each year. Originally built as a fortress in the 12th century, living quarters were added in 1287. Guided tours of Vaduz and the Princely Theatre provide fascinating insights into the history of the castle and the Princely House.

Alter Pfarrhof Balzers

Domus Museum And Gallery

Located in the Schaan town hall, Domus Museum And Gallery is a cultural center with a gallery in Schaan. In addition to the main museum, domus consists of two other buildings in Schaan: the s'Landweibels-Huus, and a traditional coppersmith's workshop. The s'Landweibels-Huus is particularly noteworthy for its architecture and interior, which provides insights into erstwhile life in Liechtenstein. The coppersmith's workshop dates back to 1912 and still displays all the original equipment and tools.

The site has a rich history, with evidence of habitation dating back to the Neolithic Period. Numerous archaeological discoveries have been made in the area, the most notable being the "Mars von Gutenberg" figurine, which measures just 12 cms and is displayed at the Liechtenstein National Museum. The chapel and rose garden at the castle welcome visitors every Sunday from May to October. Additionally, the castle hosts various cultural events and activities during the summer months.
