An Evening Of Fusion Music
Don't miss Sahil Vasudev's performance of "2 INDIAS." This music project blends two historical and diverse cultures: Western Classical from Spain and Hindustani Classical from India, presenting them in a new way. Pianist and composer Sahil Vasudev reimagines the works of the legendary Spanish composer Isaac Albéniz with an Indian classical ensemble. He is joined by Suhel Saeed Khan on sitar, Shanawaz Khan on sarangi, Makrand Sanon on hybrid percussion, and Akshay Dwivedi on bass guitar. "2 INDIAS" has been developed by the Embassy of Spain in India, produced by Meta Arts, and presented in collaboration with various cultural partners from across the country. The performance transcribes 150-year-old scores into Hindustani classical text, offering an innovative and fresh interpretation of Spain's greatest composer.

You cannot miss this incredible gem if you are passionate about retro Hindi film music. “Main Pal Do Pal Ka Shayar Hoon” is a semi-autobiographical play that dives deep into the life and legacy of Sahir Ludhianvi, a legendary poet and lyricist who shaped Urdu literature and Hindi cinema. The Hoshruba Repertory, directed by the talented Danish Husain and in collaboration with Art for Causes, presents this production, offering a 360-degree view of Sahir’s life. You’ll experience his struggles, passions, and triumphs intertwined with some of his most unforgettable poems and songs. Co-written by Ali Husain Mir and dastangoi artist Himanshu Bajpai, the play delivers a profound and moving exploration of the protagonist's quest to understand light and the universe. Guided by Rongila Nao, an esteemed all-women folk music group from Kolkata, this workshop is your opportunity to engage with and preserve the rich legacy of folk songs from undivided Bengal, Assam, and other regions of India. Participants will immerse themselves in the beautiful intricacies of various folk forms, such as Jhumur, Tusu, Bhadu, Bhatiali, Sari, and both Doriya and Chatka Bhawaiya. Experience expert instruction on the essential techniques of singing these folk styles, including articulation, grammar, history, pronunciation, and the meanings behind the songs.

A Timely Play About Fascism
The AMI Arts Festival 2024, presented by the Kolkata Centre for Creativity, hosts "Taking Sides," a play by Ronald Harwood and directed by Atul Kumar.
