In an initiative to make air travel more convenient, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has launched doorstep baggage transfer facility for passengers flying to and from the Indira Gandhi International Airport. A Bengaluru based logistics company, Carter X, has teamed up with Delhi Airport to make the overall experience of flying more convenient for passengers.

They can now book their baggage services via the logistics app, website or counters at the airport to avail this facility. Post the booking the baggage will be picked up from the travellers&rsquo address in Delhi-NCR.

The facility has come into operation only after a successful trial at Terminal 3 of the IGI Airport.

The service ensures safety of your booked baggage by sealing it with tamper-proof materials and a barcode to help with identification. If you are a departing passenger, the luggage will be collected from your home. And you can pick it up upon arrival at the airport. Similarly, if you are arriving at the airport, you can book the service and the baggage will be delivered to your house (the address has to be in Delhi NCR region, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh or Rajasthan).

The service also provides insurance policies for baggage.Apart from that, a tracking facility on phones and tablets is also available.

You have to share the date of service as well as flight details along with the delivery address to avail this logistics service.

The service might also be extended to Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, provided things go as planned. The Delhi Airport authority also plans to enable baggage booking via the airport website.
