Indians haven&rsquot exactly had the best standing when it comes to our passport. In fact, according to the Henley Passport Index, India stands at rank number 81 and has access to 60 countries only, with and visa-free access to 8 countries, including Indonesia, Bhutan, Fiji, Maldives, Mauritius, Nepal, Seychelles and Serbia. In other words, our travel situation is not great. So when we hear that Myanmar has decided to open its visa-on-arrival process to Indians, it&rsquos only a cause for celebration.

There have been talks of visa-free access to the neighbouring country, Myanmar (erstwhile Burma) for a while, but recent reports suggest that the deed is almost done. Apparently, Indian tourists will be granted VoA at the international airports at Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw. The fee for the process would be $50. Earlier in May 2018, the land-border crossing agreement had also been signed between Myanmar and India, making it easy for tourists from the two countries to travel to each other by road.

Although the details for the visa on arrival by air are not crystal clear yet, we do know that the news is underway and soon we will be able to take off to Myanmar without a visa in advance, and say &ldquoLast night, I went to Mandalay again&rdquo with a straight face.
