Get a Bird's Eye View From This Observation Deck In Delhi

After missing two deadlines, Delhi&rsquos Signature Bridge looks to finally ready its Observatory Deck by June 30. The Delhi Transport and Tourism Development Corporation (DTTDC) set the new deadline keeping in mind the current speed of construction, which has ensued at a steady pace. Once complete, the viewing point will sit atop the pylon of the bridge. At 154m (approx. 500 feet), it would be twice the height of the Qutub Minar, and offer a dazzling aerial view of the city. The actual date of entry for tourists, however, is yet to be announced.

&ldquoConstruction of the glass box, elevators and pylon access system is in progress, and we are hopeful of completing all this work by the end of June,&rdquo Shurbir Singh, the DTTDC's Managing Director, told Hindustan Times. Once open, the deck will accommodate 50 to 60 visitors at a time. Built with a glass facade, it will be divided into four levels and fitted with two elevators for transporting people to the top of the pylon.

The government intends to promote the deck as a sunrise and sunset viewing point. Lest visitors get hungry for more, provisions are being made for food purchase areas, as well as &lsquosafe selfie spots&rsquo.

Beautification projects are also in store, with the DTTDC planning to build gardens and a children&rsquos park in the open spaces around the bridge. Unveiled last November after a delay of eight years, the Signature bridge spans the Yamuna river to connect Wazirabad and East Delhi. The eight-laned carriageway is India&rsquos first &lsquoasymmetrical&rsquo cantilever spar cable-stayed bridge.
