The holy city of Varanasi is all set to receive a very ambitious project, a Virtual Experiential Museum (VEM) developed at Man Mahal. Giving a wholesome experience of the rich culture and spirituality of the city to visitors, the project is seen as a major game changer for the tourism sector.

The museum-cum-web repository of 60 ancient temples and sculptures that are found in the Kashi-Vishwanath corridor is a virtual museum that will take visitors on a trip that will uncover the story of these artifacts and temples.

An initiative developed by the Kashi Vishwanath Temple administration, the museum will be set up along with the help of Department of History of Arts, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and the National Museum of Archives.

Divisional Commissioner Deepak Agarwal said that this is going to be a unique experience with high resolution pictures of temples (with a touch of 3D), and all the necessary information. The gorgeous Ganges and the serene view of the Kashi&ndashVishwanath corridor will be a major part too.

The museum would probably be ready and open for visitors by September end.
