Uttar Pradesh To Host 7th Nature And Bird Festival Dates, What To Expect & More

From February 1 to 3, Uttar Pradesh will host the 7th edition of the Nature and Bird Festival at Vijayasagar Bird Sanctuary, located in Mahoba District. The festival, with its theme "Eco-tourism for nature conservation," attempts to encourage the youth to participate in conserving the environment and generate awareness about its importance. 

&nbspEarlier known as the UP Bird Fair, an awaited event among passionate birdwatchers, the state's forest department has planned to highlight the region's rich and diverse ecology and natural habitat this year. In a press conference held in Delhi, the forest department's representative said, "Located in the Bundelkhand region, the three-day-long Festival will witness an audience of national and international experts in the fields of birding, nature conservation, and wildlife tourism and photography." 

The department has lined up many exciting and immersive experiences for visitors to experience on all three days. There will be excursions, panel sessions, book launches, photo exhibits, and new partnership announcements. Mamta Sanjeev Dubey, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest & Head of Forest, UP, also shared how the activities aim to build knowledge and recognition for the state's rich natural wealth. The festival is also the department's and state government's effort to develop a cohesive approach to promote nature-based eco-tourism and cultural tourism. 

&nbspOver the years, the government and tourism board has been actively involved in creating circuits that pass through the region's forests, historical sites and ancient cities to offer tourists a culturally-rich experience. This three-day festival is an addition and a platform to launch new offerings to travellers seeking such experiences. 

Located along the picturesque shores of the 11th-century Vijay Sagar lake and spread over 262.20 ha., the bird sanctuary welcomes a host of migratory birds during winter. You can spot beautiful avian creatures like hornbills, coots, darters, painted stark, Brahmi ducks and lesser whistling ducks.

&nbspThe sanctuary is well-connected by road and can also be reached by train.
