Use of plastic banned between Haridwar and Gomukh

Green tribunal bans use of plastic and camping activity to prevent river pollution

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has banned the use of plastic along the stretch of the Ganga River extending from Gomukh to Haridwar. Apart from a blanket ban on the usage of plastic carry bags (irrespective of any thickness), NGT has even banned the procurement, storing and sale of such plastic bags, plates, glasses, spoons, etc. It has also banned camping activity (including rafting camps) along the stretch of the river between Rishikesh and Kaudiyala. However. there is no ban raftng along the stretch.
