Türkiye Breaks Tourism Records And Emerges As A Top Destination

Türkiye, a top destination for travelers worldwide, celebrated a milestone in tourism with a remarkable 10 per cent increase in international visitors, totaling 56.7 million in 2023. According to the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, tourism income surged by 17 per cent to $54.3 billion, with an average spending of $99 per night for overnight visitors.

Building on this success, Türkiye aims to attract 60 million tourists and generate $60 billion in tourism income by 2024. The country plans to achieve this by diversifying its market strategies, maintaining existing markets, and targeting new ones.

Leading in Sustainability

Türkiye's tourism success is not just about numbers; it's also about sustainability. In 2022, Türkiye made history by becoming the first country to sign a sustainability agreement with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). Through the Türkiye Sustainable Tourism Program, the country promotes eco-friendly practices and rewards businesses committed to sustainability, ensuring diverse and responsible tourism experiences.

Türkiye's appeal extends throughout the year, offering diverse experiences beyond its renowned beaches and historical sites. The country boasts a wide range of activities, including sports, cultural events, and festivals, attracting visitors seeking adventure and exploration.

With 720 projects in 2023 and plans to increase to 750 in 2024, Türkiye demonstrates its commitment to safeguarding its historical treasures for future generations.
