Two Boutique Hotels In Nepal Join The RARE India Community

Nepali Ghar Hotel

This 61-room hotel, located in Kathmandu's busy Thamel district, effortlessly blends traditional Nepalese architecture with modern amenities. The property's main attraction is Seto Ghar, a wonderfully restored 200-year-old structure that was previously the royal residence of Nepalese Brigadier Colonel Pahalman Singh Basnyat. It was built during the Rana era and has been carefully renovated using local materials and expert artisans to preserve the elegance of the period. Several steps have been taken to ensure sustainability. Around 30 per cent of the land at Nepali Ghar Hotel has been left undeveloped so that groundwater can be recharged. Sanctuary Resort

This 27-room resort, situated on six acres of land on the outskirts of Chitwan National Park near Amaltari, provides a serene respite along the banks of the Narayani River. Designed around the centuries-old lives of the Tharu people, who have lived in this region since the 10th century, the resort offers a genuine destination experience inspired by Tharu architecture and nature. It harmoniously engages with the local community by hiring locals, utilising traditional craftsmanship, locally sourced materials, and handcrafted designs. Safaris, canoeing, and forest hikes are among the different jungle activities available. The resort does not provide elephant rides due to ethical concerns about how trained elephants are treated.
