Turkish Airlines Resumes Flights To Damascus After 13-Year Hiatus

Turkish Airlines has officially resumed flights to Damascus, Syria, marking the return of its service to the capital after more than a decade. The airline, known for flying to more countries than any other, first launched flights to Damascus in February 1984, but these were suspended in April 2012 due to the Syrian civil war.

Starting from 23 January 2025, Turkish Airlines will operate three flights per week to Damascus, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

Bilal Ekşi, CEO of Turkish Airlines, commented on the resumption of flights, stating: “We are thrilled to resume our flights to Damascus, the capital of Syria. With the deep historical ties between our two nations, we believe that this return will strengthen our connection and foster trade and cultural exchange in the region. As we expand the Middle East’s global gateways, Turkish Airlines continues its mission of bridging countries and peoples with our vast flight network.”

Round-trip fares from Istanbul to Damascus start at USD 299, inclusive of all taxes and fees, according to the airline's official website. Prices may vary at sales offices and agencies.

• Flight TK 846: Istanbul (IST) to Damascus (DAM) – 09:00 Departure / 11:00 Arrival (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays)

• Flight TK 847: Damascus (DAM) to Istanbul (IST) – 13:00 Departure / 15:10 Arrival (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays)
