Travel Time From Pune To Nashik To Drop To 20 Minutes After Announcement Of New Highway Project

Travel between Pune and Nashik is set to become significantly faster with the construction of a new elevated corridor along National Highway 60. Currently, journeys by road take nearly two hours, but the new corridor is expected to reduce travel time to just 20 minutes.

Details About The Pune-Nashik Elevated Corridor

The 28-km stretch will start from Nashik Phata and end at Rajgurunagar (Khed). Work on land acquisition has already begun, marking the start of a major infrastructure project in the Pune Metropolitan Region.

Surveys and land acquisition are taking place across several villages, including Nanekarwadi, Medankarwadi, Waki Khurd, Waki Budruk, Chimbali, Kuruli and Chakan. These efforts are necessary to make space for access ramps and alternate bypass routes.

Chakan, one of Pune’s busiest industrial hubs, faces heavy traffic congestion daily. To address this, authorities plan bypass roads through nearby areas such as Kadachi Wadi and Kharabwadi.

Officials say the elevated corridor will not only reduce travel time between Pune and Nashik but also ease traffic pressure on smaller towns along the route where vehicles often get stuck.

For residents and commuters, the new corridor offers significant convenience and time savings. Officials emphasise that the project is not only about faster travel but also about improving overall connectivity and easing congestion in towns along the route.

Pune Authorities Working To Reduce Bottlenecks

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is simultaneously carrying out several road expansion projects to improve traffic flow across the city.

These include stretches from Balewadi to Shedge Vasti, Surya Hospital to Thakar Vasti and Nande-Man Road. The ambitious Pune Ring Road project is also advancing in phases, with land acquisition nearing completion in several areas.

Together, these projects aim to reduce bottlenecks and improve regional connectivity.
