Headed to Goa Don't Forget to Wear that Mask

Pandemic or no pandemic, Goa will continue to remain an all-time favourite holiday destination. This year too, the state has been drawing tourists from all corners of the country ever since it reopened its borders after the lockdown. However, some tourists are still not taking the necessary safety precautions that travelling amidst the pandemic calls for.

This carelessness has not gone down well with state authorities, who have announced that tourists found without a facemask will be photographed and fined.

According Uday Madkaikar, the mayor of Goa, such tourists need to be taught a lesson. If reports are to be believed, some tourists have been seen arguing with officials over wearing masks.

The authorities have mentioned that they don&rsquot intend to harass the tourists and are only concerned about their safety and the safety of their fellow travellers. Last week, the state government had doubled the fine for not wearing a face mask to Rs 200.

According to the state SOPs, police officials, mamlatdar and panchayat secretaries will be authorised to impose a fine on tourists who are seen without a mask.

With the sudden increase in coronavirus cases across the country, states have become cautious once again and are doing their best to provide a safe experience to tourists in these unprecedented times.
