The Basilica of Mount Mary in Bandra, Mumbai, holds the Feast of the Nativity (Birth) of the Blessed Virgin Mary on September 8, every year. After the completion of the novena or the nine-day prayer (September 4-12, 2015) to Virgin Mary, the official Feast (September 13-20, 2015) is held for eight days starting on the first Sunday after September 8. The faithfuls believe that praying to the Virgin Mary will heal them of physical ailments and hence you will find many stalls selling wax body parts as an offering. During the fair, stalls selling bric-a-bracs, savouries and decorative wares are set up by the local people.
