The famous 2,000-year old Nuad Thai massage has very recently been added to the Unesco&rsquos list of &ldquointangible cultural heritage&rdquo practices. The Unesco Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage announced the decision for the same.

The massage, which is said to have originated in India, has been a part of Thailand&rsquos history for more than 2,000 years. The intensive massage gained recognition after The Reclining Buddha School started. The massage is different from the conventional ones as it does not involve any essential oils, rather includes applying a lot of pressure. The therapists use their elbows and hands to apply the pressure relieving the acupressure points. The massage also involves stretching, thereby de-stressing the body.

Unesco&rsquos website states the massage as a traditional Thai massage which is a part of the art and science of Thai healthcare.
