Travel From North To North-East Delhi In Just 10 Minutes

Travelling to and from North and North East Delhi won&rsquot be a hassle anymore, for the much-awaited Signature Bridge just opened to the public. This bridge, all set to reduce the influx of traffic in the area, will go all the way from Wazirabad and across the Yamuna River. It was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejiwal on November 4, 2018. The 575-metre long mammoth structure which is almost double the height of Qutub Minar took almost 15 years to complete. It is said to be the country&rsquos first asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge and it resembles a &lsquonamaste&rsquo.

Apart from the bridge, the project also has a 154 m high glass box atop the pylon which will offer a bird&rsquos eye view of the city to visitors. Each elevator can carry 50 people at a time. While the bridge will be open during the day between 11 pm to 5 am, it will be closed for the night due to the construction of the glass box. Once open to the public, along with a panoramic view, it will also have a designated selfie spot for tourists. Graphics on either side of the bridge will represent a modern and progressive India.

The bridge was constructed by the Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation (DTTDC) which cost them about Rs 1.518 crores. Announced in 2004, the bridge missed several deadlines.&nbspIt was supposed to be operational in 2010 before the Commonwealth Games&nbspbut got delayed due to several issues.
