Taiwan Summer Universiade 2017

The 29^th edition of the Summer Universiade will be hosted by Taipei, the capital city of Taiwan, from August 19-30. This international multi-sport event is organised for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The 12-day sports event is a global multi-sport event that connects students at both the academic and athletic levels and will be broadcast by more than 100 TV channels.

The most well-known sporting event after the Olympic Games, The Univesiade is staged every two years in different cities. The Summer Universiade has 14 compulsory sports and up to three optional sports chosen by the host country which includes archery, athletics, basketball, fencing, football, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, swimming, diving, water polo, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis and volleyball.

Talking about the event, Ko Wen-je, Mayor of Taipei, said, We are expecting a large number of tourists and participants from India for this event. We invite tourists from India to come and enjoy the city of Tapei and everything that it has to offer in terms of a buzzing night-life, cosmopolitan culture, fantastic food and historical sites apart from a world class sporting infrastructure.
