Tahiti and Bora Bora to Open Borders for Tourists from May 1

The group of islands in the Pacific Ocean celebrated its first month without any COVID-19-related deaths, and had decreasing numbers of COVID-19 cases since January

You know that island vacation you've been dreaming about for  long It&rsquos likely that it will soon become a reality - on a Tahitian island. 

Tahiti and Bora Bora announced the re-opening of  borders for tourists from May 1, 2021. 

The announcement was made by Edouard Fritch, President of French Polynesia after meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron. 

The group of islands in the Pacific Ocean celebrated its first month without any COVID-19-related deaths, and decreasing numbers of COVID-19 cases since January.

The Islands of Tahiti are a group of 118 Islands in French Polynesia, an overseas collectively of France in the South Pacific Pacific Ocean. The country suspended travel from all origins on February 3. Since the opening dates were announced, Tahiti is planning on coming up with specific guidelines and restrictions.

The decreasing number of COVID-19 cases cut short the restriction that was planned for three months. The country is still following curfew from 10 PM to 4 AM which will be functional till April 30.

The French Polynesian president stated that they are going to put in place a protocol at the entry of borders using virological testing, vaccine, serological testing and ETIS (Electronic Travel Information System).

The islands were recently certified as a Safe Travels destination by World Travel & Tourism Council.
