Author : OurTeam

The renowned Rubin Museum Of Art and the International Center of Photography, both based in New York, are collaborating to show Steve McCurry&rsquos photographs of India in a museum for the first time. Thirty-seven stunning images, many of them an iconic part of the award-winning photographer&rsquos fabled artistry and some never seen by the public before, document McCurry&rsquos travels in India since the late 1970s. The evocative combination of portraits, landscapes, historical sites and vignettes from the lives of ordinary people, printed in McCurry&rsquos NYC studio, demonstrate his extraordinary ability to connect with his subjects and capture unguarded and aesthetically beautiful moments having a universal appeal. The photographs on view include classics from his early projects (the kinetic India by Rail and the life-affirming Monsoon), and will be complemented by curated exhibits from the Rubin Museum&rsquos collection of Himalayan art, video interviews with specialists, and an audio guide for the exhibition with a commentary from McCurry himself.
